Internet Marketing with Great Content – Tips from Local-One
You have probably seen the phrase “Content is King” more than a few times on the internet. The reason you see it so much is because it is so true! Internet marketing is a constantly evolving combination of technology and art but one fact has remained true for many years. Great content results in better rankings and more visitors. All of your marketing efforts should begin with content and be supplemented by additional SEO, PPC, or social media marketing techniques.
As a content developer for the successful SEO/SEM agency, Local-One, I have spent many years writing articles, press releases, blog posts, blog comments and eBooks for various internet marketing clients. Through my experience, I have come up with a few tips to help you create quality content to offer visitors to your website.
The first thing you should do is answer the questions. Some of the biggest complaints I see on web forums or message boards relate to not being able to come up with content ideas for websites. One way to brainstorm possible topics for articles and posts is to think of the questions that your potential customers want answered and answer them.
By doing this, you become a source of valuable information. Don’t worry about giving away too much knowledge. Ultimately, visitors will become your customers because they will realize you are an expert in your field.
Sometimes the block to writing is not about coming up with ideas, but in figuring out how to put your ideas down on paper. One way to overcome this is to do an exercise where copying is not only allowed, but encouraged.
I know, I know. Copying content is not recommended if you intend to publish it on your website or use it for any form of marketing. Google and other search engines frown upon duplicate content and will quickly send you to the land of the lost websites.
However, through this exercise, copying an article can help you understand how great content is laid out and developed so you can replicate the technique, not the words. Simply find an article on the web that you particularly enjoy reading. As you read the article in one window, type the article out in another word processing window.
I am not sure exactly why it is so effective, but “seeing” the technique behind the writing can sometimes free your mind and get the creative juices going again. Again, be very careful of plagiarism and use a tool like Copyscape to ensure that your words are truly your own.
Now you are ready to commit to writing content for your website on a daily basis. The good news is that it does not have to be a 600 word article for it to be effective. Instead, it could be a quick blog post that is to the point yet still provides good, relevant information. If even that sounds too daunting or you need more articles than you can handle on your own, Local-One is always available to assist with your content, SEO, and internet marketing needs.
